The DuraMem® and PuraMem® membrane series are market leading membranes for Organic Solvent Nanofiltration (OSN). Both DuraMem® and PuraMem® are made from P84® polyimide. Their superior stability in non-aqueous solvents allows users to generate extra product value in a wide variety of applications in chemical process industries. Benefits of OSN include reduced cost of goods, reduced energy consumption, and increased yield through gentle, ambient temperature separations.

Evonik provides two families of OSN membrane products with performance characteristics targeting the needs of the chemical process industries for separation-, purification-, recovery- or concentrationbased applications.


Where most polymeric organophilic membranes fail, DuraMem® excels. DuraMem® offers long term stability in most so called aggressive solvents such as solvents of the polar aprotic solvent family (acetone, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide); as well as rejection of the smallest molecules in the nanofiltration range. The solvent-stable DuraMem® membrane family is compatible with a wide range of organic solvents, and organic or aqueous solvent mixtures, including polar and polar aprotic solvents such as acetone, tetrahydrofuran and ethanol.


PuraMem® is the brand new membrane series stable in apolar hydrocarbon-type solvents. PuraMem® shows superior rejection and flux performance as compared to similar commercially available membranes. The PuraMem® membrane family is also solvent-stable, but is compatible and designed for use with nonpolar solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons and ethyl acetate.
